Author Visits

What can you expect from a visit to your school? I will …

•  work with students from third grade and up through high school

•  work with students in a public or private school of any type

•  present to, or meet with, up to four groups in a day

•  chat informally about what authors do in general, and about my own books

•  enthusiastically encourage students to embrace the joy of reading and writing

•  tailor my presentation to the age and capabilities of the audience

•  offer creative writing workshops for general classes, special ed classes, or selected writers (fourth grade and up)

•  promise a fast-paced, interactive, fun, content-filled session

•  Skype or FaceTime with students around the world

What about adult groups? Sure! I will …

• offer creative writing workshops for teachers, parents/students together, and  

    serious writers

• speak at teacher/librarian meetings, as a keynoter or workshop leader. A few possible   

   topics are:

As It Happens: Using Historical Fiction in the Classroom

I also offer a more general, interactive, humorous presentation: The Inside-Out Author Chat. 

What can I expect from you? That you will …

• prepare students or library users for my visit by sharing at least a part of one of my books, or even doing projects centered on my books

• provide a quiet venue with any necessary (minimal!) equipment in working order

• allow an opportunity for people to buy books, when appropriate

What about costs? Yes, there are some …

• Contact me for details, as costs vary by location, distance to travel, type of organization, number of presentations required, whether we’re meeting face-to-face or online, and a few other factors. Basically, though, my all-inclusive fee for a full day (four presentations) is $1200, payable at the end of the day.
